INDUSTRIAL INTROVERTS
ARTIST STATEMENT
In 2017, I established artistic residence at the 16th Street Studios located within the Racine Arts & Business Center.
Just a few months before, my father-in-law passed away. While settling into my studio, I began to explore the expansive 150-year-old building. Using the camera my father-in-law gave me, I discovered and photographed hidden treasures that speak about the property’s history.
Through my camera lens, I bring to life the stories of unique objects that are often overlooked. Look past its crusty exterior and marvel at its beauty. Many things in this world go unnoticed much like people. My work is meant to inspire the viewer to slow down and take notice of the ‘introverts’ patiently waiting to be seen.
